Immigration Says There Are No Cases Of Labor Smuggling To Companies

JAKARTA - The Manokwari Immigration stated that there were no cases of smuggling outside workers to a number of legal companies in West Papua Province.

"We make sure there are no cases of human smuggling in the sense of labor to companies with legal entities," said Head of the Class I Immigration Office (Kanim) Non-TPI Manokwari Iman Teguh Adianto quoting Antara.

However, his party continues to increase supervision of all companies to prevent criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) and crimes of human smuggling (TPPM).

The TPPM team and the foreign surveillance team routinely carry out inspections of domestic and foreign labor documents in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.

"Alhamdulillah, West Papua is still safe. However, we always anticipate by checking the completeness of labor documents," he said.

Iman Teguh appealed to all components of society in West Papua to be aware of job offers abroad through social media with the lure of very fantastic wages.

This, he said, is one of the criteria for the mode of criminal act of trafficking in persons and crimes of human smuggling that are rampant in several other regions in Indonesia.

"We all know that several cases of human organ sales stemmed from the job offer mode," he said.

The Head of Non-TPI Manokwari reminded the public who submitted a passport issuance application to provide honest information when Immigration officers conducted the interview stage.

He emphasized that officers will pay close attention to all information on the results of the interview before the issuance of passports so that the purpose of making passports is not based on fraud by certain individuals.

"If during the interview there is something suspicious, we ask and the applicant must be honest. The goal is to anticipate TIP and TPPM," said Iman Teguh.
