LAMPUNG - The Bandar Lampung City Government (Pemkot) has budgeted IDR 7.5 billion to update the outdated waste transport fleet.

"We have budgeted Rp7.5 billion for the procurement of garbage cars in the 2023 pure Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD)," said Head of the Bandarlampung Environment Agency (DLH) Budima P Mega, in Bandar Lampung, Thursday, September 7, quoted by Antara.

He said the budget was intended to buy garbage transport vehicles, including a dump truck, eight amrol trucks and seven pick-up units.

"So it's not adding, more precisely the budget is to replace vehicles that are no longer feasible," he said.

He mentioned that currently there are 103 units of garbage transport vehicles in DLH, of which a number of fleets have been damaged and unfit.

"Now there are 103 fleets, not all of them are good. Maybe half of them are good because there are dozens of garbage cars that are starting to be damaged and need to be replaced," he said.

He revealed that currently the volume of waste in Bandar Lampung that goes to the Final Disposal Site (TPA) reaches 800 tons per day.

"One day there are 800 tons of garbage entering the Bakung TPA, the garbage is transported from sharing polling stations in this city.

Meanwhile, Bandar Lampung Mayor Eva Dwiana said the addition of the garbage car was needed, considering that there were a number of fleets in DLH whose conditions had begun to be damaged and were not feasible to operate.

"Yes, we will immediately add garbage trucks, to make them more optimal," he concluded.
