South Sumatra Basarnas Finds Bodies Of Victims Who Drowned In The Komering River (Between)

The South Sumatra Basarnas team found the body of a teenager named Wawan Setiawan (17), a resident of Bangun Jaya Hamlet, Bantan Pelita Village, Buay Pemuka Peliung District, who drowned in the Komering River since Friday (1/9) at 17.00 WIB.

Head of the South Sumatra Basarnas (Sumsel) Hery Marantika, in Martapura, Sunday, said that after the second day of the search, the victim was finally found dead.

The victim's body was found about 1.6 kilometers from the starting point of drowning in the waters of the Komering River at 09.00 WIB.

In an effort to search, his party involved the South Sumatra Basarnas Rescue Team, including elements of the TNI/Polri, the local government, and assisted by local residents.

The search team that was deployed was divided into several SAR units with their respective roles and responsibilities. The search method includes sweeping the river's surface using rubber boats, using Aqua Eye equipment to detect the presence of victims.

In addition, his party also applies the artificial wave method by using rubber boats at points suspected of being the location of the drowning victim.

"After the drowning victims, the search was carried out for 1x24 hours, including at night," he explained.

Currently, the victim's body has been taken to the funeral home in Bangun Jaya Hamlet, Bantan Pelita Village, for burial by the family. On that occasion, he again reminded the public to be more careful when carrying out activities in the river so that the incident does not happen again.

"Moreover, at this time the river flow is quite strong, so residents must be more vigilant and careful," he said.
