AMIN Declaration: Gus Choi And Optimism Towards The 2024 Presidential Election

SURABAYA - Effendy Choirie, Chairman of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the NasDem Party, hopes that the "AMIN" (Anies-Muhaimin) acronym will soon seep into public awareness after the declaration.

"I want to emphasize that the choice is in the hands of individuals," said Gus Choi while attending the AMIN declaration at the Majapahit Hotel, Surabaya, Saturday.

Gus Choi is optimistic that this declaration will be a positive start to Anies-Muhaimin's journey in facing the 2024 Presidential Election. He highlighted the importance of meeting administrative requirements, tactical strategies, publications, and socialization as well as accompanying him with prayers and tawakal.

"I feel that the people must be given the best choice, and then the decision is in the hands of the people. Please choose AMIN, Anies-Cak Imin, or other options," he added.

In addition, Gus Choi revealed that the General Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, had arrived in Surabaya to attend the AMIN declaration.

"I have gathered in Shangri-La, I came here first," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 2.

He also said that Anies Baswedan was ready to participate in the event, without significant special preparations.

Previously, the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB Central Executive Board, Jazilul Fawaid, scheduled the AMIN declaration to be held at 14.00 WIB.

Jazilul confirmed that Anies Baswedan had departed from Jakarta to Surabaya, while Muhaimin Iskandar had asked for the blessing of his mother who lives in Jombang Regency, East Java.

In the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to take place from 19 October to 25 November 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates will be proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

With 575 seats in the current parliament, pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election must get at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. Another alternative is that the candidate pair is promoted by a political party or coalition of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
