SMRC Survey: Those Who Believe There Is Corruption Formula E The Majority Of Ganjar Voters

JAKARTA - The Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) Survey Institute released a poll on cases related to political figures who will become presidential candidates in 2024. One of the cases that became survey material was the alleged corruption in the implementation of Formula E which is currently being investigated by the KPK. Allegedly, this corrupt practice occurred when the candidate for president from the NasDem Party, Anies Baswedan, was still the governor of DKI Jakarta. In the survey, respondents were asked whether or not there was an alleged corruption case at the Formula E racing event which was held in Jakarta. As a result, 19.9 percent admitted to knowing and 80.1 percent admitted that they did not know. "Of those who know, 47 percent believe that there is corruption in the organization of the car race, which is not sure 36 percent, and does not answer 17 percent," said SMRC founder Saiful Mujani in a survey presentation broadcast on SMRC TV YouTube on Thursday, August 31. Of the respondents who believed corruption occurred at the Formula E event, 65 percent believed that Anies Baswedan as governor of DKI Jakarta was involved in the case. Those who are not sure are 28 percent and 7 percent did not answer. Saiful explained that the majority of respondents who believed that there was corruption in the implementation of Formula E in DKI Jakarta were supporters of Ganjar with a portion of 49 percent choosing Ganjar, Prabowo 32 percent, Anies 14 percent, and not answering 6 percent. On the other hand, 36 percent chose Anies, 29 percent Prabowo, 27 percent Ganjar, and 7 percent did not answer. " Issues like this are issues that affect the competition between Anies and Ganjar, while Prabowo has little significant influence," he explained.

For information, this survey was conducted in the period 31 July – 11 August 2023 by analyzing 4,260 respondents from populations in each province. The survey margin of error with the number of samples nationally is estimated to be +/- 1.65 percent at a 95 percent confidence level using the simple random sampling assumption.
