Pressing Air Pollution, DKI Provincial Government Requires Industrial Cerobongs In Jakarta To Use Scrubbers

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, reminded industries in Jakarta to put a scrub on his trash. This is an effort to control air pollution in the capital city.

Asep said that he had pocketed data on factories that produce pollution from its coal stake. It is recorded that as many as 14 industries are declared required to install a scrub on the stove.

"There are 14 industries in Jakarta that are categorized as required to use a scrub, a scrub that we will try to convey to these industries so that they can install a scrub according to the direction of the ministry," Asep told reporters, Monday, August 28.

In this case, the scrub is a tool that functions to refine various pollutions so that it can clean up gas waste from industrial factory activities.

Asep emphasized that the obligation to install a scrub does not only apply to industries in Jakarta because this is a policy to improve air quality implemented on a national scale by the central government.

"So this is not only a policy from the DKI Provincial Government itself but also a national policy, especially for industries around Jakarta," said Asep.

In the next week, Asep said that his party would start to monitor these pollution-producing companies. It is hoped that factory managers can immediately carry out these instructions.

"Indeed, as soon as possible we ask the industry to install a scrub. That would be better," said Asep.

Asep said there were no special sanctions for factories that had not installed a scrub on their coal stake. However, if they are proven to be perpetrators of air pollution because they do not install a scrub, the DKI Provincial Government can impose sanctions.

"If there are no specific sanctions yet. But we'll see if it turns out that the industry is a polluting industry, there will definitely be sanctions in accordance with the regulations," explained Asep

"The regulation is that there is PP (Number) 22 (2021), there has been (imposition of sanctions) starting from administrative sanctions, until finally freezing and revocation of permits (business)," he continued.
