The Case Of The Death Of Acehnese Allegedly Persecuted By TNI Personnel, Acting Governor Provides Legal Assistance

ACEH - Spokesperson for the Aceh Government Muhammad MTA stated that the perpetrators of the persecution of Acehnese in Jakarta which led to deaths allegedly involving members of the TNI must be severely punished. "We condemn and hope that the torture case will lead to death involving members of the TNI must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted fairly," said Muhammad MTA in Banda Aceh, Antara, Sunday, August 27. All parties involved in the persecution of Acehnese Imam Masykur, both TNI and civilian officers, must be charged and severely punished. "Regardless of the problems that occur between the parties, torture is not justified, let alone resulted in the loss of people's lives," he said. The Aceh government really appreciates the ongoing legal process, both being carried out by the police and the TNI POM in handling the case. In particular, the Acting Governor of Aceh will provide special assistance to the case and will communicate and coordinate, especially with the TNI POM in its fairest law enforcement efforts. "The governor has asked relevant officials in the Aceh Government to study this case according to regulations in legal assistance efforts," he said.
