BMKG Forecasts 5 Regencies In East Kalimantan Rain On Weekends

SAMARINDA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that five districts in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) will experience rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on Saturday - Sunday, August 26-27.

"The impacts of these events include slippery roads, floods, overflowing rivers, fallen trees, and landslides," said Meteorological Station Class I forecaster Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Iwan Munandar in Balikpapan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.

This weather forecast has also been conveyed to related parties through the WhatsApp Group (WA), including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at both the provincial and district/city levels, so that mitigation is immediately carried out to minimize its impact on the community.

Five districts that have the potential to experience rain are Berau, West Kutai, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kutai, and Mahakam Ulu districts.

The details are in Mahakam Ulu on Saturday at around 20.00 WITA, heavy rain accompanied by lightning occurred in two sub-districts, namely Long Apari and Long Pahangai, then at 23.00 light rain was predicted to occur in all sub-districts.

On Sunday morning at around 02.00 and 05.00 WITA, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in three sub-districts, namely Long Bagun, Laham, and Long Hubung Districts, while on Sunday morning light rain in all sub-districts.

For East Kutai Regency, on Sunday morning at around 05.00 WITA, rain accompanied by lightning only occurred in Muara Ancalong District, while light rain occurred in most sub-districts in this district.

In Kutai Kartanegara, he continued, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in the early hours of Sunday at 02.00 and 05.00 in two sub-districts, namely Tabang and Kembang Janggut sub-districts.

For East Kutai, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur on Sunday morning at around 05.00 WITA in three sub-districts, namely Damai, Long Iram and Linggang Bigung, while some other sub-districts have light rain from night to morning.

"In Berau Regency, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur on Sunday morning at 02.00 and 05.00 WITA only in Maratua District, while most of the other sub-districts have light rain from Saturday night to Sunday morning," said Iwan.
