Police Overcome Forest And Land Fires In West Coast Bengkunat

The WEST COASTAL - West Coast Police Officer, Lampung, handled the forest and land fires (karhutla) that occurred in the Pekon (Village) Tanjungrejo area, Bengkunat District, so that the fire did not spread widely in the area.

"Quick response of Bengkunat Police members to extinguish the fire at the Karhutla hotspot," said Bengkunat Police Chief IPTU Juni Rosiwan, in Bengkunat, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.

He said that at the time of the fire, it occurred on Wednesday (23/8), at around 13.00 WIB, which resulted in a puff of smoke at that location.

"The fire that was observed was at the coordinates of the Hotspot Pekon Tanjungrejo point, causing the fire to spread and thick smoke," he said.

Therefore, the Sector Police Chief appealed to the public to residents who want to clear land not by burning it.

"Because there is currently a global warming, so it is very prone to fires," he said.

He also asked that public awareness always be increased, and if there is a fire, it must be extinguished immediately.

"We are both monitoring the land, which is often the emergence of hotspots if a small hotspot appears, quickly extinguish it so that it doesn't spread to be big," he said.

"Right now we are faced with extreme hot weather. If we burn it, the fire will spread easily," he said.

Previously, West Coast Police Deputy Chief Kompol Rafli Yusuf Nugraha had formed a response team for the prevention of forest and land fires (karhutla) in the area.

"We formed a team, which will later be deployed at points prone to forest and land fires," said the Deputy Chief of the West Coast Police.

Currently, his party together with the TNI, BPBD, related agencies, and the community are working together to handle and control forest and land fires in the area.

"We are both making prevention efforts at several points where we are indicative of a fire," he said.
