PURBALINGGA - A male perpetrator of assault or rape against a underage girl was arrested by the Purbalingga Police. The suspect was arrested by the police, assisted by residents in a pine forest in the Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency.

Deputy Head of Purbalingga Police, Kompol Donni Krestanto, said that the suspect with the initials ER (48) was a resident of Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency. The suspect had intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.

"The suspect carried out his action on Wednesday, August 9 in a pine forest hut of Perhutani located in Thahab Kidul Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency," said Kompol Donni, in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, August 23.

It was said that the incident began when the suspect, who was still his neighbor, picked up the victim at his house on a motorbike at around 15.30 WIB. With the excuse, asked to be accompanied to buy and choose a motorbike for the suspect's son.

"However, in the middle of the trip, the suspect took the victim to a pine forest on the grounds that he would take Mangga Kweni. The suspect then forced and threatened to kill the victim with a sickle so that sexual intercourse was carried out in a hut around a pine forest," he explained.

According to Kompol Donni, the suspect carried out his actions freely because apart from threatening with a sickle, the suspect also tied the hands of the victim using plastic ropes. In addition, the victim's mouth was also taped so as not to scream.

"After carrying out the action, the suspect then left the victim at the location in the position of his hand tied with a wire in one of the trees. Until the victim was found by residents who then helped and then together with the village reported the incident to the police," he said.

Based on the incident report, the PPA Unit of the Purbalingga Police Satreskrim then conducted an investigation. Subsequently pursuing the suspect who fled. The suspect was successfully secured in a pine forest on Friday, August 11, at 19.00 WIB.

"The suspect who had escaped was successfully secured by the police, assisted by residents in the pine forest in the Karangreja District two days after the incident," he explained.

The evidence that was secured included the clothes worn by the victim at the time of the incident, a 5.2 meter long wire rope, a 2.4 meter long plastic rope, 0.9 meter long duct tape, a sickle and a motorcycle.

The suspect admitted to carrying out the action because he accidentally saw the victim's intimate part when he went together. Previously, the suspect had invited the victim to accompany him to the pine forest twice to take the Mangga Kweni fruit. Then the suspect took action against the victim when he went together for the third time.

The suspect is subject to Article 81 Paragraph (1) and (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection into Law in conjunction with Article 76D of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

"He was sentenced to a minimum imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum of 15 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 5 billion," he concluded.
