10 Detainees Of Rumbai Police Escape, Pekanbaru Police Chief Calls Officers Negligent

RIAU - Pekanbaru City Police Riau Province arrested ten detainees from the Rumbai Sector Police in various locations and different times after running away for about 10 days.

Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Pol Jefri Ronald Parulian Siagian, Sunday, explained that the escaped prisoners had the initials RR, RNY, RF, MA, HI, SC, DS, NW, A and DP. One of them is the mastermind of the escape with the idea of digging the detention toilet.

"The mastermind behind the idea of escaping is A. The trick is to dig up the detention toilet which directly leads to a'septic tank'," said the police chief, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 20.

Prisoners then used melamin plates which are usually used to eat as a tool to dig a way out. "This plan was carried out by the suspects in just a matter of hours," said Jefri.

During his escape, this detainee has committed a criminal act. One of them is the suspect, NO, who was desperate to steal a cell phone and motorbike in the Rumbai District area.

Jefri said that officers who were suspected of being negligent resulted in the escape of prisoners would be processed by the Riau Police Propam. This, he said, was an evaluation in order to tighten security again.

"We have given attention to each police station to be more vigilant and stricter," he said.

In the same place, the Director of General Crimes at the Riau Regional Police, Kombes Pol Asep Darmawan, also supported the arrest of detainees. He said the detainees had been arrested in various areas in Riau and West Sumatra.

"The perpetrators were arrested in several areas, including Pekanbaru, Bengkalis, Pelalawan, and West Sumatra," said Asep.
