YOGYAKARTA Residents of Wukirsari, Cangkringan, Sleman Regency, Sunday, August 20, were entertained by the cattle cart festival organized by the Pangrekso Vessel Gerobak Association Andhini Karyo, at Watuadeg Field.

Deputy Regent of Sleman, Danang Maharsa, who was present at the event, said that this activity was a means to preserve and promote traditional means of transportation for cattle carts and become a forum for farmers to be creative in decorating cattle carts and looking for seeds for Javanese female cows.

"With this activity, it can increase the population of Javanese cattle and motivate the enthusiasm of cattle breeders. If the cow cart wins, it can also increase the selling price of the cows, which of course have an economic impact," said Danang quoting Antara, Sunday, August 20.

According to him, Sleman has many cattle cart communities, so activities like this can be a place to show creativity in decorating cattle carts and showing the superiority of their cows.

Chairman of the Pangrekso Association Andhini Karyo Tri Haryono said this activity was an annual routine activity and began to be held again this year, after being vacuumed due to COVID-19.

"This festival cooperates with the association with FKH UGM and has been signed with a memorandum of understanding (MoU)," he said.

According to him, this year from the invitations delivered in the number of 80, there were 76 cow carts present and from several cattle cart associations throughout Sleman Regency.

In addition, this festival also holds competitions for cattle carts with the best decorations and creations, then the best male and female cows, which will be assessed by the FKH UGM lecturer team.
