Gibran Not Invited To An Event In Central Java, PDIP: It's Special For Candidates

JAKARTA - PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah emphasized that Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka was not invited because of internal problems. The event was called specifically for legislative candidates.

"The event yesterday was an event for legislative candidates. Yes, if you are forced to do it, the event is for legislative candidates. If Mas Gibran himself is invited, then the other regents will be angry," Said said as quoted by Kompas.com, Wednesday, August 16.

Said dismissed the notion of a relationship between PDIP and President Jokowi's son.

"How come, when he wanted to be investigated again, Mas Gibran. It's a pity that Mas Gibran also needs to be calm as mayor," said Said.

Gibran Rakabuming Raka previously admitted that he did not receive an invitation to the meeting of PDI-P regional heads throughout Central Java which was held in Semarang, Central Java, last Tuesday.

"Not invited, there are no invitations," said Gibran in Surakarta City, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

Prior to the event, Gibran admitted that he had not communicated with any parties regarding consolidation, including the General Chairperson of the Central Java PDI-P DPD Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul.

"He hasn't contacted me yet. I didn't even know there was consolidation. As for Pak Pacul, I don't know, just waiting for directions. I also didn't find out," said Gibran.

In fact, he admitted that he would come if an invitation came to him.

"If I was invited, I would come. If I wasn't (invited), yes, I wouldn't have come alone," he added.

According to him, it could be that the regional heads who were invited were senior cadres of the white-nosed bull party.

"Those who care, (perhaps) are not invited," said Gibran.

The Central Java PDI-P DPP held a meeting at the Padma Hotel, Jalan Sultan Agung, Semarang, Tuesday night (15/8). The event titled the Consolidation of the Mind of the Regional Head of Party Cadres in Facing This Situation and Towards the 2024 General Election.
