"The joint SAR team managed to find the victim on behalf of Krisna Andrea Saputra, male, 15 years old, dead. Then the victim was evacuated to the funeral home," said Samarinda SAR Alert Unit Coordinator Riqi Effendi as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 12.

He explained that the victim and his friends swam in a former mining site on Jalan Meranti, Handil Bakti Village, Palaran District, Samarinda.

At around 09.30 WITA, he continued, based on witness testimony, while they were swimming, suddenly the victim asked friends for help. But his friend did not have time to help because within a few seconds the victim drowned.

There were two witnesses who were friends of the victim during the incident, namely Adi Putra and Akbar Gaza.

Seeing the drowning victim, the witnesses then asked for help from the closest residents and then the residents reported to the police and other related parties.

"After receiving the report, the joint team immediately came and conducted a search. Until then at 12.45 WITA, the dive team found the victim dead," said Riqi.
