Anies Baswedan Asks For Kiai East Java Restu At At-Taudid Islamic Boarding School Surabaya

A presidential candidate Anies Baswedan asked for the blessing of the kiai in East Java for the smooth running of his steps to run in the 2024 presidential election while attending the Al-Qur'an Khahaman and Tirakat events at the At-Tauhid Islamic Boarding School, Sidoresmo, Wonokromo, Surabaya.

"God willing, in East Java we can get broad support by relying on prayers and blessings, God willing, it can be delivered to success," Anies said during his remarks reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

Anies said his visit to the At-Taudid Islamic Boarding School was also a step to strengthen friendship with kiai and people in East Java.

"Also allow us on this occasion to express our hopes and efforts to prioritize justice, God willing, we will try to implement it in a real sense," he said.

He stated that the return visit was a form of effort to get the blessing of the ulama.

"Please pray for him, his blessing, and also his support so that he can use the mandate for the struggle for real change in change," said Anies.

Meanwhile, one of the representatives of the Khataman Al-Qur'an and Tirakat Committee named Muhammad Maimun said that Anies Baswedan had deliberately come to expand the relationship with scholars in East Java.

"The point is that he wants to be friendly," he said.

In addition, he also mentioned that invited guests hoped that Anies Baswedan could find a candidate for vice president from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), especially since the candidate for president from NasDem also wants to win votes in East Java.

"One wish for Mr. Anies to look for representatives from NU, such as Mbak Yeni, Cak Imin, and Mrs. Khofifah. East Java itself is based onnahdiyin. So, if possible, read the vice president nahdiyin," he said.
