After 4 Times Trying, Jokowi Will Inaugurate The Jabodetabek LRT August 26

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) would be inaugurated on August 26, 2023.

"God willing, maybe August 26," said Jokowi at Dukuh Atas LRT Station, Jakarta, Thursday, after trying the Jabodebek Lintas Bekasi LRT train from Jatimulya Station, Bekasi, West Java.

After trying out the Jabodebek LRT, Jokowi expressed his impression that the LRT train was good, and could operate commercially at the end of August 2023.

"So it's checked again, it's good, by the end of the month it can operate," he said.

The President ensured that the Jabodebek LRT would prioritize security and safety aspects for passengers. President Jokowi recorded that the Jabodebek LRT trial this Thursday was the fourth time.

Unlike the LRT, Jokowi also explained that the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train will only be tried again in September 2023.

The fast train may be tried again in September. As soon as everything is ready, so it's confirmed. The sooner it is operated, the better," he said.

Not only with ministers and local government officials, Jokowi this Thursday tried the LRT with influencers and art activists.

After arriving at Jati Mulya Station at around 08.30 WIB, Jokowi discussed for a moment with the influencers before crossing the electronic card scanner and boarding the escalator to enter the LRT carriage.

The influencers who accompanied Jokowi, among others, Nirina Zubir, Prisia Nasution, Chelsea Islan, Lukman Sardi, Desta, Cak Lontong, and others.

The LRT across Bekasi started from Jati Mulya and passed 14 stations before stopping at the last stop at Dukuh Atas Station, Central Jakarta.

LRT is known to be an integrated mode of transportation whose train series is produced by BUMN PT INKA Persero, and the infrastructure is carried out by PT Adhi Karya Persero Tbk. (ADHI). Domestic component level (TKDN) for LRT work of more than 60 percent.

The Jabodebek LRT uses higher technology from the Jakarta MRT or South Sumatra LRT, namely the 3rd generation or Grade of Automation (GoA) Level 3. With this technology, it allows trains to be operated without a driver and adjust the distance between trains to be closer while maintaining a constant distance.

Meanwhile, a series of tests have been carried out since 2022 and are getting more intensive in May 2023.

It is planned that the limited trial (trial operation) of the Jabodebek LRT will be conducted from July 12 to August 2023 and is targeted to be commercially operational by August 2023.
