Komnas Asks The National Police To Apply The TPKS Law In The Case Of Miss Universe Indonesia's Naked Photo Finalist

JAKARTA - Komnas Perempuan Chairman Andy Yentriyani said Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (UU TPKS) must be applied in the alleged sexual violence related to the holding of the Miss Universe Indonesia beauty pageant.

"Furthermore, reporting needs to refer to the mandate of the TPKS Law by ensuring the fulfillment of the rights of victims through law enforcement, service administration, and prevention efforts," said Andy Yentriyani as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 9.

Komnas Perempuan also appreciated the courage of the victims to report their cases.

"We need to support efforts to fulfill the rights of victims, including by not making criticism of beauty pageants a tool for silencing victims," he said.

He regretted a number of parties who were cyberbullying the reporter of this case.

"Cyber bullying is increasingly pressing the victim who is currently trying to overcome the trauma, shame, and fear of the body-checking incident," said Andy Yentriyani.
