Police Are Still Hunting For High School Teacher Persecutors With Ketapel In Rejang Lebong Bengkulu

REJANG LEBONG - Resort Police (Polres) Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu, is currently pursuing the perpetrators of the persecution of SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong teacher which caused the victim to become blind.

Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Juda Trisno Tampubolon said the case of abuse by the teacher of SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong occurred on Tuesday (1/8) morning at SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong which is located on Jalan Lintas Curup-Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, precisely in Simpang Beliti Village, Binduriang District.

"Currently, investigators from the Rejang Lebong Police have pocketed the identity of the perpetrator and are still being chased by officers, because after carrying out the action the perpetrator immediately fled," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

He explained that he had ordered his staff, including the Padang Ulak Tanding Police (PUT), to find the whereabouts of the perpetrators of the persecution until they got it.

"The PUT Police Chief has made persuasive efforts by visiting the perpetrator's family, with the hope that the perpetrator can surrender," he explained.

Separately, the chairman of the Rejang Lebong DPRD, Mahdi Husen, admitted that he was sorry for the incident that happened to the high school teacher who served in the area and hoped that this case would not happen again.

"I have contacted the Bengkulu Provincial Education Office because the authority of SMA/SMK is in the province. But in terms of this area, the Rejang Lebong area, we feel concerned and regret this incident," he explained.

To overcome this problem, he said, he would discuss it with the Regent of Rejang Lebong and Forkopimda, then involve PGRI, school principals, community leaders and other related parties to find solutions and provide protection to teachers.

Previously, the case of teacher abuse was experienced by Zaharman (58), a sports teacher at SMA Negeri 7 Rejang Lebong, whose address is at Simpang Beliti Village, Binduriang District on Tuesday (1/8) at around 09.30 WIB.

According to the statement from the Head of the PUT Police, Iptu Hengky Noprianto, it started when the victim found a student smoking in the school environment, then took action against the student who smoked, but the student with the initials PDM (16) then went home and called his parents.

Then the student's parents with the initials AJ came to SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong and said security guard if the child was beaten by the victim, then the security guard tried to break up the perpetrator who at that time took out a knife and a catapult immediately entered the school.

After meeting the victim, Zaharman immediately pointed the catapult at the victim and hit the victim's right eye. Seeing the victim bleeding, the perpetrator immediately ran out of school.

Meanwhile, the victim had to be rushed to the AR Bunda Hospital in Lubuklinggau City to undergo treatment due to serious injuries to the eye.
