GRESIK - Chairman of the National Election Winning Body (Bapilu) from the United Development Party (PPP) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno hopes that Khofifah Indar Parawansa will be willing to join and fight in the winning team for Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate (candidate). "If Mrs. Khofifah wants to fight with us this is extraordinary, it is a gift, I really hope," said Sandiaga when asked by reporters after the "Cofficine with Mas Sandi" activity in Gresik, East Java, Antara, Sunday, July 30. According to him, East Java is a strategic province, including its area in Gresik Regency because its economic center is in the area. "So I will go all out, how can I restore this economy and can present solutions according to people's expectations," he said. However, regarding the election for the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) to be carried by PPP, the man who also serves as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), does not know anything and is not his authority. "I was assigned as Bapilu not to lobby or carry out political communication, all political decisions were made by Mrs. Mega and PPP Chairperson Mr. Mardiono," he said. Even so, if there was a decision, he would return it to the public to judge. "I appreciate the results of the community satisfaction survey that has been inscribed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), I think this is a provision and hopefully this can be taken into consideration," he said. However, he will still be willing if he is not elected as a vice presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) contestation. "I will continue to work hard, work smart, work complete and work sincere, fortune will not be exchanged, everything will be in accordance with efforts, we can only try to leave the rest to Allah SWT," he said. Therefore, Sandiaga admitted that he would continue to work with totality for maximum results. Based on the schedule set by the General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total DPR seats or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI or pairs of candidates promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
