DPRD Urges DKI Provincial Government Not To Stay Silent About Students Entangled In Fiber Optical Cables In South Jakarta

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy, urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to take a stand on the case of fiber optic cables in the air hanging on Jalan Pangeran Antasari, South Jakarta, and harming a resident. In January, a student named Sultan Rif'at Alfatih was caught in an aerial cable and injured his neck so he could not speak until now. Allegedly, this telecommunications network aerial cable belongs to PT Bali Tower. "My hope is that as soon as possible the DKI Regional Government will facilitate what kind of victims they are and what to do. We can't let this happen, I really ask to see who made this mistake," said Ida when contacted, Sunday, July 30. Ida asked the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Office to help facilitate victims in obtaining their rights, to find out the causes of the aerial cables that hang and ensure the responsibility of the cable-owning company. "As soon as possible it will be facilitated first, what exactly is it, and what is it like. The first step I think of it. Only then, we will take the next step. Whether the company should be responsible or what, we have to go in (find out) first," explained Ida. A Brawijaya University student named Sultan Rif'at Alfatih (20) experienced a bitter incident. The reason is, he could not speak for almost seven months due to his neck being entangled in an optical fiber cable. Sultan's father, Fatih, said the incident occurred on Jalan Pangeran Antasari, South Jakarta on January 5, 2023, at 22.00 WIB. The incident started when the child was spending semester holidays with his high school friends around the capital. They went by two-wheeled driving towards Jalan TB Simatupang and then turned left on Jalan Pangeran Antasari. After walking along Jalan Pangeran Antasari for one kilometer, suddenly there was an SUV that stopped in front of the victim's motorbike. Because there is an optical fiber cable that crosses the road. The SUV driver who moved slowly to pass the cable that was stretched was thought to have miscalculated. He allegedly did not realize the cable was stuck on the roof of the car. "Because the fiber optic cable is made of steel fiber, the cable doesn't break when you are interested in a few meters. The cable turns to the back and stabs my child's neck. Immediately, my child immediately fell due to a cable trap," Fatih said when confirmed, Saturday, July 29. The victim, who was unconscious, was immediately taken by his friends and a number of road users to the Fatmawati Central General Hospital (RSUP), to get first aid. "(The doctor) sentenced my son that his throat or young bones in his throat broke and fell apart from what was called the offline or like the jakun was released," explained Fatih.

On the other hand, as a result of the accident, he could not speak. He even suffered for almost seven months. "Even couldn't speak for almost seven months as a result of the incident," he concluded.
