Two Cellphone Robbers Escaped And Hit A Meatball Cart And Then Plunged Into The River To Avoid Crowd Clashes

JAKARTA - Two robbers were arrested by residents while trying to snatch the victim's cellphone in the Gajah Mada area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, Wednesday night, July 26. The escape action of the two perpetrators failed after they had hit a meatball seller.

From Andri's statement, an eye witness to the incident, when the two perpetrators tried to escape, they actually hit a meatball seller until the meatball seller was injured.

"It happened from the direction of Tamansari to Gajah Mada. When he turned around, the perpetrator was arrested. The perpetrator carried a sharp weapon of the type of sickle," he said, Thursday, July 27.

After hitting a meatball cart, the two perpetrators who had been surrounded by the masses finally decided to throw themselves into the river. They had to do this reckless action to avoid the tantrums of the masses.

However, both of them were arrested by other motorists after returning to surround the flow of the river. The two perpetrators were secured to a security post around the crime scene. Furthermore, the two perpetrators and their sharp weapons were taken to the Gambir Metro Police.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gambir Metro Police, Kompol Andhika Aris Prasetya, confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday night at around 22.00 WIB. Currently, the two perpetrators are still being investigated by the Gambir Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"It was a snatching attempt, the two perpetrators did not manage to take the victim's cellphone. Because they were shouted at, both of them fled and were secured," said Kompol Adhika when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, July 27.

Until now, the victim or owner of the cellphone who had been snatched has not come to the Gambir Police to make a report.

"No one has made a report on the incident until this afternoon," he said.

However, the two perpetrators are still in the Gambir Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit to undergo further examination. In addition, the two perpetrators have not had a urine test.
