Tays Bakers BARATI Team Wins 3rd World Youth Gothia Cup Sweden 2023

JAKARTA - Proud results were achieved by the Tays Bakers BARATI team aged 12 and 13 years at the Gothia Cup event in Sweden on 16-22 July 2023. In this prestigious tournament known as the Youth Football World Cup or the World Youth Cup, the two Indonesian representatives managed to rank 3rd among 194 teams from 27 countries.

Met after the handover of the winning trophy, CEO of Proud of Red and White Globally, Krisna Marsis expressed her emotion over the struggle for 28 players from a combination of 18 SSB and 10 provinces in Indonesia.

"I am touched and proud of the achievements made by the children in this prestigious event, especially in the midst of weather conditions and competition formats that are not too friendly for the players. The weather in Sweden during the tournament was indeed a windy cold condition below 14 degrees," Krisna said in her statement, Monday 24 July.

Both Indonesian teams managed to win the group in the preliminary round and stepped into the Knock Out round meeting strong opponents from football traditions such as Italy, Mexico and Spain. In total, both Indonesian teams played 8 times each, Team U-12 was able to score 50 goals and concede 13 goals, while Team U-13 managed to score 41 goals and concede 8 goals.

The U-13 team's move stalled in the semifinals after being defeated by the Ordin FC team from Brazil 0-5, while the U-12 Team narrowly lost 2-3 to the Mexican team Barca CFIS who also won in the final.

The slick game shown by the Tays Bakers BARATI team during the Gothia Cup competition managed to attract the attention of participants in other countries and local Swedish media coverage.

"This is not only about Indonesia's football being raised positively, but these children are indirectly Indonesian cultural ambassadors. The tradition of salim to referees and opposing coaches by children after the match is a small example of unique things that raise public curiosity about Indonesia," added Krisna.

Welcoming this good news, Tays Bakers CEO Alexander Anwar stated that his party is very proud of the extraordinary achievements of the young players in the Tays Bakers BARATI Team who have made the nation proud in the Gothia Cup 2023 event.

The Tays Bakers BARATI team consists of 28 players aged 12 and 13 years as a result of the selection of the 2023 WESTERN CUP Bali tournament which was attended by more than 1000 players from 13 provinces in Indonesia. The sending of the youth football team to the 2023 Gothia Cup is part of the International Red and White Proud program which is an incubation program for young Indonesian football talents with the spirit of nationalism.
