JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the National Mandate Party Yandri Susanto did not deny that the Minister of Trade and General Chair of PAN Zulkifli Hasan continued to discuss election issues to prospective presidential candidates when meeting former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti in Pangandaran, West Java.
"Yes, of course, his name met many chats, electoral chats, presidential candidates chats, other chats, there must be that," Yandri said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.
He did not deny that Zulhas (Zulkifli Hasan's nickname) held a special meeting with Susi Pudjiastuti because of his influential figure in Pangandaran.
"Yesterday there was a special meeting with Mrs. Susi. The special meeting was in the sense that we knew Mrs. Susi was an influential figure in Pangandaran there, of course the community admired Mrs. Susi very much," he said.
Yandri said that Zulhas' meeting with Susi Pudjiastuti was expected to bring a conducive atmosphere ahead of the 2024 General Election.
"For 2024, Mrs. Susi's influence must also be high. That's what we hope from Mrs. Susi can provide a conducive atmosphere, then it can be a safe, peaceful election situation," he said.
According to him, Zulhas will stay in touch with Susi Pudjiastuti every time he travels to Pangandaran.
"What is certain is that if Bang Zul goes to Pangandaran, he will definitely meet Mrs. Susi and visit her, that's definitely it, every time he goes there," he said.
However, Yandri argued when asked whether it meant that PAN was inclined to provide support to Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto considering that Susi Pudjiastuti had also just met with the Indonesian Minister of Defense on Monday (17/7).
"It's still a secret," he said.
