The Impact Of Mario Dandy's Persecution, Neurologist: David Ozora's Head Injury Is Like A Car Accident

JAKARTA - Defendant Mario Dandy Satriyo beat David Ozora resulting in a diffuse axonal injury or severe head injury. The impact of the persecution was likened to a victim of a motor vehicle accident.

This was conveyed by a neurologist, Yeremia Tatang. He was presented as an expert in the trial of the alleged abuse case with the defendants Mario Dandy Satriyo and Shane Lukas.

It started when the Public Prosecutor (JPU) questioned the cause of a person's diffuse axonal injury. Yeremia also said that the cause was impact.

"That severe head injury, what caused it?" asked the prosecutor during the trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Thursday, July 20.

"The cause is all kinds of traumatic blows, whether it's a blow, or an accident, which causes the patient's consciousness to drop drastically," Yeremia answered.

Then, the prosecutor began to divert his questions regarding David's condition upon arrival at Mayapada Hospital. Originally, Jeremiah was the doctor who treated David at the hospital for 56 days.

Jeremiah said that when he arrived, David was in a coma or unconscious. Medical treatment was immediately carried out.

Exactly eight days of treatment, David's condition is said to have started to show progress. Because his eyes were open.

"So the first time it opens the eyes, the eighth day, the ninth. It opens the eyes for about two or three seconds, then it closes again," said Jeremiah.

"Is that all or is there another movement?" asked the prosecutor.

"The movement appears, the gross motor movement after the second week," said Jeremiah.

In the end, the prosecutor questioned whether or not he had treated patients with a disease similar to David's.

Yeremia also said that this was the first time treating a patient who had a diffuse axonal injury due to abuse. Because, usually it happens to victims of motor vehicle accidents.

"This is the first time a case of beating like this has happened. There have been too many car accidents," he said.

"Is that (accident) the same as having a diffuse axonal injury too?" asked the prosecutor.

"Same," Jeremiah said.

In fact, when the prosecutor mentioned the worst impact of diffuse axonal injury, Yeremia immediately said that if the victim could die.

"Worst one ever encountered?" asked the prosecutor.

"In case of diffuse axonal injury, if the patient does not respond to the drug within a few days it usually passes away," said Jeremiah.

In this maltreatment case, Mario Dandy was charged with serious maltreatment. He brutally beat David Ozora's head.

As a result of the persecution, David Ozora was seriously injured. In fact, they have to undergo medical treatment for quite a long time.

Mario Dandy in this case was charged with Article 76 c in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

So, the prosecutor charged him with Article 355 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code Junto Article 55 Paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code and the subsidiary Article 355 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code, the second primary with Article 355 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with 56 of the 2nd Criminal Code.
