The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has examined Maqdir Ismail as the attorney for the 4G BTS corruption defendant, Irwan Hermawan and received a refund of US$1.8 million or Rp27 billion related to the alleged corruption case of BTS 4G Kominfo. The money is said to have come from a figure with the initials S.

"We don't know who handed it over. The initials are S, but the background, the purpose is to this day we don't know," said the Director of Investigation at the AGO's Jampidsus, Kuntadi, to reporters, Thursday, July 13.

This figure of S is said to have handed over the money not directly to Maqdir. But through his colleague named Andika.

Therefore, investigators will check with Maqdir's office to collect further data.

"We are examining the office concerned to find evidence related to who submitted it," he said.

The emergence of the initials S also denied the rumors circulating about the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo as the owner or returner of the 1.8 million dollars.

Separately, Maqdir said he had conveyed everything he knew to investigators. Including the question of the owner of the money.

"This money was handed over by the party who will help our client Irwan Hermawan," he said.

In addition, Maqdir emphasized that the refund was in accordance with his client's commitment and was handed over on behalf of Irwan Hermawan, not from another figure.

"We will submit this money on behalf of Irwan Hermawan, to recover the things he has received and in accordance with this commitment that we bring all of them. This is the commitment of our client, the defendant Irwan Hermawan. Hopefully this will provide light, clearer the position of our client Irwan in this case," said Maqdir Ismail.
