JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Wednesday, July 12 tomorrow, the White House said.

The meeting was held when the Russian-Ukrainian war was the top agenda of the summit in Vilnius which was attended by 31 leaders of the military alliance to discuss steps to strengthen the defense and deterrence of NATO.

Ukraine has urged NATO to commit to its membership in the defense alliance.

Some NATO members are reluctant to support Ukraine's efforts because this country is in a war against Russia which has already passed its 500th day.

"I don't think right now there is unanimity within NATO on whether to include Ukraine into the NATO family, at this point, in the middle of a war," Biden told CNN last week.

Biden said discussions of Ukraine joining NATO soon were premature.

He said the US and its NATO allies would continue to provide security and weapons to Ukraine to end the war.

The last meeting between Biden and Zelenskyy was at the G7 summit in Japan in May.
