General Wismoyo's Body Is Planned To Be Brought To Solo

JAKARTA - Former Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) General (Purn) Wismoyo Arismunandar died, Thursday, January 28 at 04.29 WIB at Pindok Indah Hospital, Jakarta due to illness.

It's planned that Wismoyo's body to be buried in Astana Giribangun, Karanganyar, Solo, Central Java after previously being buried on Jalan Gempol Raya, Bambu Apus, East Jakarta.

Based on a number of information, the body is planned to go to Solo, Central Java at 10:00 WIB.

As for the location of the burial, Astana Giribangun is a funeral complex for the Cendana family which is located on the slopes of Mount Lawu and is the final resting place for the 2nd President of Indonesia, Suharto and his wife, Siti Hartinah or Tien Soeharto.

It is known, the former Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) was born in Bondowoso, East Java, February 10, 1940. Wismoyo is the son of Sri Wurjan and Arismunandar.

He is also the younger brother of two important officials in the Soeharto era. His first brother is Artono Arismunandar who is a former Director General of Electricity and New Energy, Ministry of Mines and Energy.

His second brother is the former Rector of ITB and also the former Minister of Education and Culture in the era of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia.

In 1968 he then married Sri Hardjanti who was the younger brother of the wife of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Soeharto, Siti Hartinah Soeharto.

This 1963 graduate of the Military Academy was recorded as having held many positions. He served as Dangrup I Kopassandha (Kopassus) 1978-1982; Wadan Kopassandha 1982-1983; Then served as Danjen in 1983-1985.

Furthermore, he was also recorded as having served as Kasdam IX/Udayana in 1985-1987; Pangdam VIII/Trikora 1987-1988; Pangdam IV/Diponegoro 1988-1990; Pangkostrad 1990-1992; Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army (Wakasad) in 1992-1993; and Chief of Staff of the Army (Kasad) in 1993-1995.

The name Wismoyo appeared as a candidate for ABRI commander. However, at that time, President Soeharto preferred Feisal Tanjung and assigned Wismoyo as Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).
