Pasar Jaya Did Not Find Evidence That Blok G Tanah Abang Market Became A Place For Thugs And Nests

JAKARTA - Perumda Pasar Jaya stated that based on the results of direct checks in the field, there was no evidence that Blok G Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, had become a hotbed for thugs and a place to consume drugs.

"Regarding the issue of the 2nd and 3rd floors circulating and suspected of being a place of crime, until now Perumda Pasar Jaya has found no evidence regarding the alleged criminal activity in question," said Perumda Pasar Jaya Public Relations Manager Agus Lamun as quoted by Antara, Saturday, July 8.

Agus said the checks were not only to ensure the news circulating quickly regarding the issue in Blok G Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, but also to carry out "Clean Friday" activities.

He said the two floors were currently empty and inactive.

In fact, Agus said, the manager of Block G Tanah Abang Market has closed access to the 2nd and 3rd floors to avoid and minimize crime.

"The Tanah Abang Market Manager Blok G deliberately closed access to the 2nd and 3rd floors with a bunching so that the public and traders did not have access to abuse areas that were already empty and inactive," said Agus.

Perumda Pasar Jaya has also coordinated with local police to check the location that is reportedly a hotbed for thugs to take drugs. Previously, information circulated that traders complained about the activities of thugs at night in Blok G Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta. On the 2nd floor Block G, bongs or shabu suction devices were found, while in Block G, on the 3rd floor there were many broken bottles of liquor. Since it was quiet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2nd and 3rd floors in the abandoned fashion center have turned into a hotbed for thugs and criminals.
