Provincial Level MTQ-29 Succession At Maluku , Deputy Bishop And Priest Unified To Become Chair Of The Organizer

JAKARTA - Christians in Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku, are united in the succession of the 29th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) at the Maluku Province level in October 2021.

"Christians, both Catholics and Protestants in Tanimbar Islands Regency, have expressed their support for the succession of MTQ 2021 in Maluku Province which is the first time took place in Saumlaki," said Regent of Tanimbar Islands, Petrus Fatlolon in Ambon, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 27.

Petrus was accompanied by a number of Protestant and Catholic religious leaders as well as the Tanimbar Islands Tilawatil Quran Development Institute (LPTQ) in Ambon City to attend a coordination meeting with the Maluku Provincial Government and related parties.

As proof of the support and participation of Christians in the succession of MTQ, the Chairperson of the South Tanimbar Protestant Church (GPM) Klasis, Pastor Lenny Bakarbessy, was entrusted as Chair of the Committee, the Daily Chair was held by the Deputy Bishop of the Tanimbar Islands, Pastor Sibe Matruty.

"The MUI leader of the Tanimbar Islands and a number of Muslim leaders are also involved in the committee, especially for technical matters, while Christians play a full role in the succession of this religious agenda," he said.

In addition, children and youth of the Tunas Pekesan Gospel Sunday School (SMTPI) and the Pontifical Missionary Children Union (SEKAMI) supported the opening and closing events.

"A number of messengers for pastors and pastors in Saumlaki are also prepared to accommodate MTQ participants from 10 regencies and cities in Maluku," he said.

The organizing committee, said the regent, is working on a marathon to complete a number of preparations, including the opening and closing arena of the MTQ, the main podium, and a stage for the performers, which are targeted for completion in May-June 2021.

In mid-February the Provincial Government and LPTQ Maluku Province as well as the Maluku Ministry of Religion Regional Office will go to Saumlaki, the capital of the Tanimbar Islands district to check various readiness as well as a technical meeting for the implementation of MTQ which is expected to be attended by 700-1,000 participants, said Petrus Fatlolon.
