The Appearance Of 2 Estuary Crocodiles In Tanjabtim Jambi Went Viral, The Public Was Asked To Be Alert

Jambi's Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) appealed to residents in the Teluk Dawan River area, Muara Sabak District, East Tanjungjabung Regency (Tanjabtim), to be aware of estuarine crocodiles along the river that crosses residents' housing.

"With the viral appearance of two large estuarine crocodiles under the Teluk Dawan bridge, East Tanjungjabung Regency a few days ago, the BKSDA asked local residents to be vigilant so that they did not fall victim to death," said Head of Section III Tanjungjabung Timur BKSDA Jambi Kamaruzzaman, quoted by ANTARA Thursday, July 6.

Officers from the Jambi BKSDA have visited the location where the crocodile appeared and it is indicated that the crocodile appeared because the water was receding and it was suspected that the crocodile was willing to mate or enter the season of marriage.

Meanwhile, data from Jambi BKSDA officers stated that the population of estuarine crocodiles in the Dawan Bay River continues to increase every year and it is estimated that the population has reached 100 to 200 crocodiles.

Meanwhile, the surrounding community expressed their concern over the appearance of the two estuarine crocodiles in the waters of the local river. Because crocodiles have occurred frequently, the community hopes for government action so that there will be no conflict between crocodiles and humans.

The appearance of two large crocodiles under the Teluk Dawan River bridge shocked the public and became a spectacle for residents who passed by the scene. The video about it had gone viral on social media.

Based on video footage belonging to residents, two estuarine crocodiles measuring about five meters swam on the surface of the water under the Dawan Bay bridge.
