JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI, Ahmad Riza Patria, stated that he would add 1,000 special grave plots for COVID-19 bodies every month. This is done to deal with the grave land crisis.

"Every month we will add 1,000 plots of grave land, more or less," said Riza when met at the Rototan Cemetery, North Jakarta, Wednesday, January 27.

Riza said, there are six locations that are being prepared by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for the opening of a special tomb area for COVID-19. First, the Rorotan public cemetery (TPU), North Jakarta.

The land area prepared at TPU Rorotan is around 2 hectares or 20 thousand square meters. However, currently the land that will be used only reaches 8,000 square meters with a capacity of 1,500 plots.

"God willing, next week the Rorotan TPU will be able to function. Now it is in the process of preparing road access to the burial site," said Riza.

TPU Bambu Apus (Bambu Wulung) has a usable area of 3,000 square meters, out of a total of 5 hectares of prepared land. From the total 800 plots prepared, currently more than 150 plots have been used.

Then, TPU Srengseng Sawah, which is currently full, will be expanded again with a capacity of 1,900 plots. Then, TPU Tegal Alur will also be expanded by 1.3 hectares with a capacity of 800 plots.

Furthermore, TPU Kramat 3 has prepared a grave area of 5.2 hectares and can accommodate 9,000 grave plots. TPU Pondok Gedek has prepared a land area of 2.1 hectares and can accommodate 3,900 plots.

"So, God willing, gradually starting next month we will prepare no less than 17,100 plots (in total)," said Riza.

With the addition of a number of TPU, Riza estimates that in the future DKI will not experience a crisis in the special burial area for COVID-19.

"We have already measured the number of deaths per day, measured the number of our ability to prepare how many plots. So, in principle, the availability of land has no problem," he concluded.
