Habib Rizieq Shihab Still Bears Several Cases, What Are They?

JAKARTA - The high imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab (HRS) is currently still in charge of several cases. The Rizieq Shihab case is still ongoing. Some of these cases have even been transferred to the prosecutor's office. Here are some cases concerning HRS, as summarized by VOI.

Land Dispute at the Markaz Syariah Agro-cultural Islamic Boarding School

Recently, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) VIII reported 250 people, one of them HRS, to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The reporting was carried out because HRS and hundreds of other people were suspected of using the land without permission for the activities of the Markaz Syariah Agro-Cultural Islamic Boarding School, Megamendung District, Bogor Regency, West Java.

"Reporting on the control of land controlled by parties we will give advance warning to these parties," said PTPN VIII attorney Ikbar Firdaus Nurahman, Friday, January 22.

Before reporting the hundreds of people, PTPN VIII sent a summons to the board of the Islamic Boarding School under the guidance of HRS. They claim that the land used by the School is the company's legal area.

Case of Marriage Crowd and Birthday of Prophet 2020

Rizieq Shihab also bore the case of a crowd held for his daughter's wedding as well as the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. For this case, Rizieq was later named a suspect and is currently at the Salemba Detention Center for the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

Apart from HRS, the crowd case in Petamburan also dragged several other suspects with the initials HU as the head of the committee for the Prophet's birthday and the wedding ceremony, A as the secretary, MS as the person in charge of security, SL as the person in charge of the event, and finally HI as the head of the event section.

"From the results of the case title, six people were named as suspects. MRS as organizer, HU as committee, A as the committee secretary, MS as the person in charge of security, the fifth SL as the person in charge of the event, the sixth HI as the head of the event section," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Region Police Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus at the Jakarta Police Headquarters, Thursday, December 10.

The Only Suspect in the Megamendung Crowd

Not only as a suspect in the Petamburan crowd, HRS also stumbled on a case of violation of health protocols in Megamendung. At that time, HRS attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Islamic Boarding School Markaz Syariah which has been occupied by FPI since 2013. The police considered that the event did not have a committee structure, so he became the sole suspect in the event.

Investigators have sent the examination documents to the Attorney General's Office on January 14. HRS has also explained the process of the Megamendung crowd to complete the investigation file.

The Swab Test Controversy at Ummi Hospital

Habib Rizieq also drew controversy when he carried out a swab test at Ummi Hospital, Bogor in November 2020. The COVID-19 Task Force assessed that the management of Ummi Hospital was not transparent and not cooperative regarding the implementation of the swab test carried out on HRS by the MER-C organization at the Hospital.

After the investigation, the police named HRS, Hanif Alatas - HRS's son-in-law, and Hospital Director - Ummi Andi Tatat, as suspects. During the search, investigators found that HRS had confirmed positive for COVID-19 based on the results of an analysis of medical records. On the other hand, HRS actually gave recognition through a broadcast on Front TV that he was healthy.

Most recently, Criminal Investigation Division of National Police (Bareskrim Polri) said that the investigation file of this case was still being investigated by the prosecutor's office.
