REJANG LEBONG - Resort Police (Polres) Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu is currently pursuing a group of perpetrators of motorcycle robbery or robbery who often act on the Curup Cross Road (Bengkulu) with Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Juda Trisno Tampubolon said police officers arrested the hand of a robber while acting on Jalan Lintas Curup-Lubuklinggau, precisely in the Simpang Beliti Village area, Binduriang District, Rejang Lebong Regency.

"The suspect we managed to secure is MP alias Acting 18 years old, a resident of Kampung Jeruk Village, Binduriang District, Rejang Lebong Regency. Currently officers are chasing his friends," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

He explained that MP alias Puja, who was caught red-handed by members of the Bengko Police, Sindang Pulanjung District, Rejang Lebong Regency, and the video went viral on social media.

In the video of the suspect's arrest, he said, the victim, who was wearing a red shirt, tried to escape and resisted a police officer.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police, Iptu Denyfita Mochtar, added that the robbery of the Yamaha Vega R motorcycle plate BD 6024 FA driven by the victim Dimas Endi Saputra (21), a resident of Simpang Suban Air Panas, East Curup District who was about to go to Air Apo Village, Binduriang District.

This robbery case, he said, was carried out by the suspect MP together with his friend with the initials RB who is still being chased by officers in the field, where the victim was followed by the perpetrator who was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle without a plate starting from the village of the Head of Curup.

"Arriving at the crime scene, the perpetrator immediately turned off the victim's motorbike by removing the motorcycle's ignition key so that the victim's motorbike stopped and then the perpetrator asked for the victim's cellphone by threatening him with a knife," he explained.

However, when the suspect MP turned the victim's motorbike towards the village of the Head of Curup, the victim resisted by pulling the suspect's shirt and at the same time crossing Brigpol Nova Andrian Saputra, a Bengko Police member who stopped and helped the victim while opening fire into the air twice.

"Not long ago there was also a police officer who served at the PUT Sector Police, also helped. Finally, the perpetrator, assisted by residents, was arrested and taken to the Padang Ulak Tanding Police, while his colleague RB fled," he explained.

The suspect MP admitted to carrying out his actions at 32 crime scenes, as well as being a recidivist with the same case. The suspect was arrested in 2019 and is still a minor.
