JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the new National Police Chief replacing General Idham Azis who is entering retirement. The inauguration will take place at the State Palace on Wednesday, January 27 at 09.30 WIB.

Before the oath of office was carried out, the event began with the singing of the Indonesia Raya national anthem. Furthermore, the reading of Presidential Decree No. 5 Polri of 2021 concerning the honorific dismissal of General Idham Azis as the Chief of Police and appointing Listyo Sigit as his replacement was carried out.

"Are you willing to take my oath?" asked Jokowi before making the inauguration of Listyo.

"Willing," answered Komjen Listyo Sigit.

Then, President Jokowi read out an oath of office which was immediately followed by Komjen Listyo Sigit.

During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. In addition, this activity was also attended by the TNI Commander, a number of leaders of state high institutions, and a number of ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

Previously reported, Komjen Listyo Sigit was the sole candidate proposed by President Jokowi to the Indonesian Parliament.

After the inauguration is carried out, the National Police Headquarters will hold a Handover of the Position (Sertijab) of the National Police Chief from General Idham Azis to Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo today.
