Continuing To Observe The Global Situation, Defense Minister Prabowo: Indonesia Wants To Mediate The Ukraine-Russia Conflict

JAKARTA - Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia wanted to mediate and the parties who bridged the resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Prabowo's statement was delivered after a meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, June 26 afternoon.

"We are in a position that respects international provisions, our foreign political stance is very clear. But we maintain good relations with all parties, and we always try, we try to be intermediaries, bridges," he said.

Prabowo said Indonesia continues to observe the global situation, including the rapidly changing situation of the Ukraine and Russia conflict. He ensured Indonesia's readiness to mediate in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

"If possible, if any. If there is desire from both parties, but we continue to try to provide good input," he said.

Prabowo admitted that he would make a detailed report to President Jokowi regarding the current situation between Ukraine and Russia. President Jokowi has also provided instructions on what Prabowo should do regarding the current global situation.

"There are several things that can be directed by the President and I think we will carry out his instructions," he said.

In addition to the situation in Ukraine and Russia, Prabowo also reported the results of his visit to Europe, including attending the 2023 International Paris Air Show exhibition at Le Bourget, Paris, France.

In addition, Prabowo also reported to Jokowi regarding many countries, especially in the African continent, which requested assistance for army training.

"I think we will follow up on this later. So basically it is a development that we are watching so that we don't get caught up and plan for the future," said Prabowo.
