The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated the Lampung Nahdliyin Center (LNC) building in lieu of the corruption convict's fine for the 2022 University of Lampung New Student Admissions (PMB), namely the former Chancellor of Unila Prof Karomani.

"We came here (LNC) to confiscate this building from the PMB corruption convict Unila Karomani," said KPK Executing Prosecutor Leo Sukoto Manalu, in Bandar Lampung as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 26.

The confiscation or confiscation of assets of the LNC building was carried out to replace the replacement money that had not been paid by the convict.

In the decision of the Panel of Judges at the Tanjung Karang Corruption District Court, the former Chancellor of Unila was charged with an additional crime of having to pay compensation of Rp. 8 billion.

"Currently, Karomani has only paid compensation of Rp. 4.5 billion. If it is not paid off, the rest will be paid from the results of the building's auction," he said.

The LNC building was confiscated by the KPK for the state which will later be auctioned off to pay the obligations of the convict former Chancellor of Unila Karomani.

"Apart from LNC, there are several other assets that were confiscated, such as the land and its contents," he said.

Auctions for confiscated assets, he said, will be carried out this month. In addition to the LNC Building, the KPK will auction off 2 kilograms of gold which will be auctioned first.

"We will auction off 2 kilograms of gold first, the rest if we don't get paid, we will auction off the LNC Building. Then when everything has been auctioned and the value exceeds what Karomani has to pay, then the rest will be returned," he said.

Previously, the panel of judges in the trial of the 2022 PMB Unila bribery case had sentenced the former Chancellor of Unila Prof Karomani to 10 years in prison.

In addition to the main sentence, the panel of judges gave Karomani additional punishment and had to pay compensation of more than Rp. 8 billion which had to be paid no later than one month after the decision received permanent strength (inkrah).
