Jokowi Calls WTP Opinion Not Achievement But The Government's Obligation

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the unqualified opinion (WTP) given by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on government financial reports is not an achievement, but must be an obligation.

"WTP is not an achievement. WTP is the obligation of all levels of government in the use of the APBN, the obligations of the ministers, and the obligations of institutional leaders to use public money with full responsibility," said President Jokowi in his remarks during the submission of the Examination Report (LHP) on LKPP 2022 at the State Palace, Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA Monday, June 26.

On that occasion, President Jokowi received a WTP opinion on the 2022 Central Government Financial Report (LKPP) submitted by the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency Isma Yatun.

It is also said that people's money in the APBN and APBD must be used with full responsibility.

The benefits of the realization of the APBN and APBD programs, said Jokowi, must really be felt by the community. However, he also reminded that the ranks of ministries/agencies and local governments must be orderly in administration in managing state finances.

"Administrative order is important, but what is much more important is what its benefits are for the people, what its benefits are for the community, what the people feel, what the community feels," he said.

The Head of State also ordered that people's money not be used to finance the bureaucracy or process, but to realize programs that are beneficial to the community.

Therefore, Jokowi asked ministries/agencies and local governments to improve spending quality.

"Every rupiah of people's money must return to the people. Once again, it is not to finance the process, not to finance the bureaucracy, because what I have found has actually run out in the bureaucracy," said the President.

President Jokowi asked the BPK to oversee accountability and the quality of financial spending. This is so that the use of the APBN and APBD can improve people's welfare, strengthen stability, and encourage economic growth.
