Police Are Still Searching Criminal Elements Regarding Ambroncius Nababan Pairing Photo Pigai With Gorilla

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri is still looking for criminal elements in the case of alleged hate speech with the elements of racism, reported by a cadre of the Hanura Ambroncius Nababan Party by Natalius Pigai. So far, the case is still under investigation.

"Not yet (investigated), the Police will investigate it again," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Tuesday, January 26.

Investigators will discuss whether there is a criminal offense or not, in the case title. From the results of the case title, the next legal steps will be decided.

Of course, if a criminal element is found, the investigator will increase the status of the case to an investigation. Meanwhile, if not found, then the case will be terminated.

"If not, finished, if it is, it will definitely be continued. The process is still there," he said.

Previously, a cadre of the Hanura Party, Ambroncius Nababan, had finished undergoing examination in a case of alleged racial hate speech on social media, namely juxtaposing a photo of Natalius Pigai with a gorilla. During the examination, Ambroncius was asked 25 questions regarding the case.

"Yesterday, 25 questions were asked," said Rusdi

After being questioned, said Rusdi, investigators decided not to detain Ambroncius. So, he was immediately sent home.

Then, in handling this case the Police will work in a transparent manner. So, everything that is wrong will still be punished regardless of the background.

"Of course in the future, investigators will handle this matter professionally and accountably, we will convey the developments later," he said.

Ambroncius Nababan has to face the law because he was reported on suspicion of hate speech on social media. Through his Facebook account, he insulted Papuan activist Natalius Pigai by juxtaposing him with a picture of a gorilla.
