Deputy Attorney General Ensures That The 2024 General Election Gakkumdu Center At The Prosecutor's Office Has Been Formed

Deputy Attorney General Sunarta said that all high prosecutors and state prosecutors in Indonesia have formed an Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) to anticipate the potential emergence of problems or violations of the 2024 simultaneous general election criminal law.

"All prosecutors throughout Indonesia already have Gakkumdu centers in anticipation of the prosecutor's office in handling 2024 election criminal cases," Sunarta told reporters in Kupang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 23.

Sunarta said this was related to the anticipation of the Attorney General's Office in dealing with the potential for a criminal case to occur in the General Election.

In dealing with the 2024 General Election, the Prosecutor's Office has a role, namely being in the Gakkumdu center with Bawaslu, the Police to handle cases of violations of the law in the event of an election criminal case.

He said the prosecutor's office officers who are in the Gakkumdu center to be proactive if there are legal problems so that the simultaneous implementation of elections in 2024 takes place safely, and in accordance with applicable legal regulations.

"We hope that the Gakkumdu center can handle election criminal cases according to the stages that have been determined starting in October 2023. The legal handling of Gakkumdu will only be carried out for seven days," said Sunarta.

The Deputy Attorney General emphasized that the prosecutor's office was involved in the Gakkumdu center to be proactive in handling public reports related to allegations of election crimes while still prioritizing neutrality.

According to Sunarta, the prosecutor's office does not have any interest in the election so that if there is a violation of the election criminal law, it will certainly be discussed jointly with other Gakkumdu members.

With the formation of the Gakkumdu Center throughout Indonesia, of course the prosecutor's office is ready to make the simultaneous elections successful in 2024.

In the seven main programs of the Attorney General's Office, it is emphasized that all ASN must be neutral in the implementation of the 2024 election so that all Prosecutors and Prosecutors throughout Indonesia have been instructed so that in the implementation of the 2024 General Election it must be neutral.
