PPLN Beijing Decides To Election 2024 Use 2 Methods With Number Of Voters 786

The Beijing Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) decided that the vote would be held in two methods with a number of voters from Indonesian citizens in China as many as 786 people. "There are only two voting methods in the 2024 General Election, namely TPS and Pos," said PPLN Beijing Chairman Adanan Purba as quoted by Antara, Friday, June 23. The polling stations (TPS) will be built within the Beijing Embassy complex, while the postal method is carried out by sending ballots by PPLN to Indonesian citizens in various areas whose names are included in the permanent voter list (DPT) through the services of the Chinese post office. "We cannot do the KSK (circular ballot) method considering the experience of the 2019 General Election," he said. In the 2019 election, PPLN Beijing canceled voting using the KSK method in several cities because it had not received approval from the Chinese authorities until the specified time limit. In terms of the number of DPT, the 2024 election, which only amounted to 786 people, decreased significantly compared to the 2019 election which reached 2,085 people with an participation rate of around 80 percent. "The decline in DPT is very significant because it is related to the pandemic and when the Chinese government reopens access to foreigners, many of our students have graduated and returned to Indonesia," said Adanan regarding the decline in the number of DPT. According to him, the Beijing PPLN whose working areas include Helongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Tianjin, Hebei, Beijing, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Qinghai, Tibet, Gansu, Xinjiang and Mongolia In addition to Mongolia are maximal by involving the Indonesian Student Association in China (PPIT) in various provinces.

Until now, PPLN Beijing has not yet received voters from Indonesian citizens in Mongolia. In the 2019 election, PPLN Beijing managed to give voting rights to an Indonesian citizen living in Mongolia.
