JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a ceremony to commemorate the 496th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta. Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono acted as inspector of ceremonies in the National Monument (Monas) area field.
During the ceremony, Heru wore a typical black Betawi beskap and cap. The chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, was seen wearing a similar outfit.
Thousands of state civil servants (ASN) and other DKI Provincial Government employees also participated in the ceremony, wearing official clothes and Betawi clothing.
In his remarks, Heru reviewed the transformation of Jakarta's history since hundreds of years ago until now. Starting from the port city, the center of government of the Dutch East Indies, to becoming the capital city of Indonesia.
"As a city that is almost 500 years old, Jakarta has shown extraordinary character and resilience in facing challenges and changes," Heru said at Monas, Thursday, June 22.
Regarding the development of cities and governance in Jakarta, Heru reviewed that the DKI Provincial Government had obtained an unqualified predicate (WTP) for six consecutive years.
"With gratitude, the DKI Provincial Government has won the title of unqualified opinion or WTP for the sixth time in a row on regional government financial reports in 2022," said Heru.
"This WTP predicate is the highest award given as a form of recognition for the responsibility of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in managing regional finances in a transparent and accountable manner," he added.

In addition, Heru also mentioned Jakarta, which will soon leave the status of the capital city. After moving the capital city to the archipelago, Jakarta is sought to transform into a global city that acts as the main node of the world economy.
According to him, Jakarta will have a direct and real impact on global socio-economic affairs. Jakarta's development priority in regional development plans for 2023-2026 also strengthens Jakarta's role as an economic center.
"According to Jakarta's vision, namely 'Jakarta Success for Indonesia' with experience as the nation's capital, Jakarta is expected to continue to make a positive contribution that has an impact on development in other regions in Indonesia," he added.
