Anies Baswedan Claimed NasDem Has Pocketed One Name For Vice President

JAKARTA - Team 8 member of the NasDem Party representative Sugeng Suparwoto said that the presidential candidate promoted by the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP) Anies Rasyid Baswedan had pocketed the name of the candidate for vice president (readwapres).

"One name has been in the bag of Anies' presidential reading. Let's wait, who knows, when Mr. Anies returns from the pilgrimage, the best momentum will be determined to declare the candidate pairs for the Change Coalition," said Sugeng in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

Sugeng said, two days before leaving for the pilgrimage, Anies Rasyid Baswedan gathered and chaired a meeting with Team 8 at the KPP Secretariat, Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (20/6).

Tim 8 terdiri atas 8 orang yang merupakan perwakilan dari Anies Baswedan dan tiga partai politik pengusung Anies Baswedan, yakni Partai Demokrat, PKS, dan NasDem. Anies menandatangkan tim kecil Koalisi Perubahan untuk menggodok cawapres yang akan mendampinginya pada Pemilihan Presiden (Pilpres) 2024.

Sudirman Said, a member of Team 8 representing Anies Baswedan, explained that during the meeting, Anies assigned Team 8 to start preparing concrete steps in the future.

"Pak Anies asked Team 8 to start moving forward to think about technical matters, including completing the structure of the national winning team, joint activities with three coalition parties, and timing options for the declaration of pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates," said Sudirman.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya who is also a member of Team 8 stated that the Democratic Party is ready to collaborate with all members of the coalition and volunteers Anies Baswedan.

"The structure and cadres of the Democratic Party have closed ranks preparing to join the cadres of the coalition parties, and Pro Change Volunteers throughout Indonesia," said Teuku Riefky.

According to the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council, Sohibul Iman, the direction directly led by Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan is a form of certainty that KPP continues to advance.

The discussion of this meeting indicates that the political work stages of the Change Coalition are running constructively and progressively. Bismillah, we are ready to sail towards the victory of the 2024 presidential election," said this member of Team 8 representative from PKS.
