Update DVI Polri Identifies 4 New Victims Of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182, A Total Of 53 People

JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team succeeded in identifying 4 passengers of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 who crashed around the waters of the Thousand Islands on Saturday, January 9.

With this success, the total identified passengers reached 53 people.

"Today's update, the team managed to identify 4 more victims," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono in a press conference at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Monday, January 25.

The four passengers identified were Fazila Ammara (6), Sugiono Effendy (36), Yohanes (33) and Nabila Anjani (11).

They were identified using a DNA matching method collected from the family.

Furthermore, Rusdi said the DVI Team would continue to work on identifying body parts that had been found by the SAR Team at the scene.

Previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

Furthermore, the authorities provide certainty if the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands.

The total aircraft carried 62 people including 12 crew members and 50 passengers consisting of 40 adult passengers, 7 children and 3 babies.
