JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin and a limited entourage left for the country after a five-day working visit in Uzbekistan.

The vice president and his entourage took off from Samarkand International Airport in Uzbekistan by chartered flight Garuda Airbus A330, at around 19.00 local time, Friday, June 16.

The vice president is expected to arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport Saturday (17/6) morning, after taking a flight for about 10 hours.

During five days of working visits to Uzbekistan, the Vice President visited two cities, namely Tashkent and Samarkand.

In Tashkent, the Vice President held a national dialogue session with the Indonesian Diaspora, meeting with businessmen from the halal products of Uzbekistan until meeting with Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov.

Together with PM Abdulla Aripov, the Vice President discussed opportunities for increased cooperation between the two countries in various fields including economy and tourism, discussing direct flights between the two countries, and proposing the construction of the Sukarno Memorial Library at the Imam Bukhari grave complex in Samarkand.

Meanwhile in Samarkand, the Vice President attended the dinner of the Governor of Samarkand Erkinjon Turdimov to discuss opportunities for cooperation between Samarkand and cities in Indonesia, and also reiterated proposals for library development in memory of Sukarno.

The vice president also took the time to visit a number of graves of Islamic civilization figures, one of whom was Imam Bukhari.
