PDIP Encourages The Constitutional Court To Ask For Clarification Of Denny Indrayana Regarding The Decision Of The Election System

The PDI-P (PDIP) has urged the Constitutional Court (MK) to hold Denny Indrayana accountable for the issue of the election system judicial review decision. The former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) is considered to have conveyed information full of political content.

"We encourage the Constitutional Court to respond specifically to what was conveyed by Denny Indrayana," PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto told reporters through an online press conference, Thursday, June 15.

Hasto said Denny had to open the figure he said gave the information to the public. Moreover, the statement appeared without evidence.

"One should not convey information to the public, which is full of political content, full of political interests wrapped in the identity of Mr. Denny as an academic. This should not be done," he said.

"The constitution must respond to what Denny Indrayana said," continued Hasto.

Some time ago, Denny Indrayana claimed to have received information about the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the legislative election system which will return to the party voting.

"This morning I received important information. The Constitutional Court will decide on the legislative election to return to a closed proportional system, again choosing the party's image mark only," Denny said via a tweet on his Twitter account @dennyindranaya.

However, the Constitutional Court decided to reject the election system lawsuit today, Thursday, June 15. This decision was read out directly by Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman.

"The Court has the authority to try out the a quo application... The petitioner's petition is not legally justified in its entirety," said Anwar Usman at the trial held Thursday, June 15.

"Rejected the petitioner's provision petition. Rejected the petitioners' petition in its entirety."

The judicial review lawsuit of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections related to an open to closed proportional system at the Constitutional Court with case registration number 114/PUU-XX/2022 submitted on November 14, 2022. There were six people who submitted applications.

The six people are Demas Brian Wicaksono (Pemohon I), Yuwono Pintadi (Pemohon II), Fahrurrozi (Pemohon III), Ibnu Rachman Jaya (Permohon IV), Riyanto (Pemohon V), and Nono Marijono (Pemohon VI).
