Jokowi Calls Workers Foreign Mandors To Guarantee The Quality Of IKN Development

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the use of foreign workers as supervisors is to ensure the quality of the results of the construction of the Nusantara State Capital (IKN) project. According to the President, this has indeed been proposed in a number of meetings with a note using only a limited number of foreign energy supervisors. "Later, if it is bad, what quality? If only 1-2 directs, can we control, so that the results can be of good quality, why not?" Jokowi told the media crew after reviewing the Menteng Pulo Market, South Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15. The President also dismissed the assumption that the use of foreign workers as supervisors was a way to attract foreign investment in the IKN Nusantara project. "No, no, no, no, because we want to raise the level of quality. Don't let the results be like an Inpres Elementary School, do you want?" Jokowi said. Previously, in a working Meeting with the DPR RI Budget Agency in Jakarta, last Friday last week, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan admitted that he was forced to use foreigners or foreigners to monitor the quality of the project at IKN Nusantara. "The quality of the work is the key. Therefore, I have reported Mr. President, we are forced to supervise with all respects, we use the foreigner-bule to maintain quality. So don't let the Presidential Palace be so but the quality is not good," said Luhut at that time.

Luhut, who is also the Head of the Investment Acceleration Task Force at IKN, explained that he had identified plans for development, incentive schemes and business models, to land status in IKN to be offered to investors. IKN Nusantara was built on the basis of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital which was officially passed on January 18, 2022.
