A Week Of Cianjur Earthquake Due To The Cugenang Fault, The Regency Government Ensures That Residents In The Red Zone Have Been Relocated

The Cianjur Regency Government (Pemkab) has ensured that the red zone of the Cugenang Fault is free from buildings. This fault activity made the Cianjur area in the past week hit by an earthquake again with quite a strong shock.

Head of the Cianjur Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dindin Amaludin, said that most of those who previously occupied the Cugenang Fault red zone had also agreed to be relocated to new housing in Mande and Cipanas Districts.

"So we asked earthquake victims in the red zone, precisely in Sarampad Village, Nagrak Village and Cijedil Village, as land owners not to build buildings because most of them have filled relocation houses," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Wednesday, June 14, confiscated by Antara.

The reason, said Dindin, is that the red zone is prohibited from being occupied and buildings are built in accordance with the results of the BMKG study because it can threaten the safety of its residents, but the government still allows residents to work on land for agriculture.

Moreover, he continued, since the last week the earthquake was felt by residents three times as fast as centralized in Sarampad Village, Cugenang District with a magnitude of 1.7, a magnitude of 3.5 and a magnitude of 2.5 for two consecutive days.

"The earthquake that occurred was not destructive, but in anticipation we again asked residents who were still waiting to be relocated not to rebuild their houses in the red zone of the Cugenang Fault," he said.

Until now, he added, the local government is still waiting for the handover of 151 relocation houses in Mande District from the Ministry of PUPR before being handed over to prospective residents of earthquake victims in Cugenang District.

"We encourage relocation houses for earthquake victims in Sarampad Village, to be occupied immediately before Kurban Day. But until now, we are waiting for news from the Ministry of PUPR," he said.
