PANGKALPINANG - The Department of Livestock and Food Security (DPKP) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel) deployed 300 health supervisors of sacrificial animals, to ensure that the sacrificial cows and goats were healthy, not flawed and in accordance with Islamic teachings ahead of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriah.
"We are deploying a paramedical team and veterinarians to ensure that the sacrificial animals sold in the community are healthy and fit for consumption," said the Bangka Belitung DPKP Animal Health Coordinator, Correy Wahyu Adi S, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 12.
He said the health surveillance team and the slaughter of sacrificial animals monitored a number of prayer rooms, mosques and places for the sale of sacrificial animals to all regencies/cities, to ensure that the cows, goats, sacrificial sheep were healthy and fit for public consumption at Eid al-Adha 2023.
"Alhamdulillah, currently no sick sacrificial animals have been found and do not meet the requirements for sacrificial animals," he said.
He stated that the sacrificial animal supervisory team, at the time of Eid al-Adha, would later come back to ensure the feasibility of the sacrificial animal.
"After being slaughtered, they will examine the organs in the jeroan of the sacrificial animal. Maybe something is not feasible so it must be eliminated, if it is good everything means it is safe to consume," he said.
