Ganjar Pranowo Will Be Involved In Determination Of Vice Presidential Candidates For The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The presidential candidate (readpres) from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), Ganjar Pranowo, revealed that he would be involved in the process of determining the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) who would accompany him in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"Mrs. Megawati conveyed this, we also spoke with Mr. Jokowi yesterday, and of course in the end the decision will involve me," said Ganjar after attending the declaration of the Gapura Nusantara Volunteers (RGN) at Kelapa Gading Club, Jakarta, Saturday, June 10.

However, Ganjar explained that currently his party is still in the stage of collaborating with other political parties (political parties). "Currently, we are opening a space for cooperation between parties first," said Ganjar.

Ganjar stated that discussions related to the vice president will be carried out after all political parties have agreed to cooperate in supporting him.

"So, after the inter-party cooperation is complete, if possible, we will discuss the candidates for the vice presidential candidates that we have prepared. Later, we will discuss at that time," he explained.

In the RGN declaration, the Chairman of the RGN Board of Trustees, Admiral TNI (Ret.) Bernard Kent Sondakh, and former Indonesian Presidential Military Secretary Megawati Soekarnoputri, Major General TNI (Ret.) TB Hassanudin were present.

RGN is a volunteer organization consisting of retired elements of the TNI or Polri, academics, YouTubers, artists, cross-party politicians, heroines, and millennials.

In obtaining support from retired TNI/Polri, Ganjar stated that he did not rule out the possibility of considering the vice presidential candidate from this circle, because his team did not look at certain backgrounds in choosing a vice presidential candidate.

"We can take it from various sources. We will discuss it. Anyone can be our consideration," said Ganjar.

Ganjar also emphasized the importance of considering various backgrounds in choosing a vice presidential candidate to face the election.
