One Family In Rejang Lebong Gets Serious Burns Due To 3 Kg Gas Cylinder Leaks

REJANG LEBONG - Four residents of Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, had to be rushed to a hospital in the area because they suffered serious burns after being hit by fire due to a 3 kilogram gas cylinder experiencing a leak. Kapolsek Bermani Ulu Iptu Ibnu Sina Alfarobi said the four residents who were victims of the fire strike came from a family living in Hamlet I Sukarami Village, Bermani Ulu District, Rejang Lebong Regency. "This happened on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at around 17.30 WIB. Currently, four victims of the 3 kg gas cylinder leak fire are undergoing treatment at the Rejang Lebong Hospital," Ibnu said when contacted in Rejang Lebong, Antara, Friday, June 2. He explained that the victim of this fire was experienced by a family consisting of her father, mother and two children. The four victims were Jumhariyanto (40) who suffered burns to his left hand, back head and on the back of the shoulder. Then his wife Amalia (48) suffered burns to her right and left hands and left thighs and left and right. Furthermore, Adit (13), the victim's child who is still in 7th grade at SMPN 7 Perbo, North Curup District, suffered an injury of up to 80 percent and had to undergo treatment in the ICU room at Rejang Lebong Hospital. Finally, Farhan (6), the victim's child who suffered burns in several parts of his body. The chronology of the incident itself, he said, began when Jumhariyanto replaced the 3 kg LPG gas in his house but replaced this gas, the needle in the head of the gas cylinder did not want to go up, so it emitted a gas odor. Victim Jumhariyanto then took the tube to the bathroom and soaked it into the bathtub, so the gas didn't smell again but the gas kept coming out and filled the closed kitchen room. "At the same time at the other side of his house, it was not known if the victim's sister-in-law burned garbage so that the fire quickly spread to the contents of the room and caused four people inside to be struck by fire," he explained.

So far, his party, he added, has checked the scene and asked for statements from a number of witnesses. Meanwhile, the victim is still undergoing treatment at the Rejang Lebong Hospital.
